To everyone who wants to join our group

Our laboratory accepts 4th-year undergraduate students from the Department of Organic Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, and master and doctoral students from the Materials Department of the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering. We welcome graduate students from other universities as well as our university. We also accept consultations on graduate school entrance exams at any time.
 

Research in our laboratory

We are consistently conducting research on physical property analysis and material evaluation based on the synthesis of new functional polymers. Rather than synthesizing compounds to end research, we can give feedback to the molecular design by investigating basic physical properties and clarifying how well they perform as materials, so materials with better properties. There are more experiments to be done than in other laboratories, but you will acquire many skills such as "synthesis skill", "molecular design skill", "structural analysis skill", and "material evaluation skill" comprehensively.
 

Research report meeting and literature introduction

In addition to regular individual discussions with Professor Hayakawa, there is a research report meeting once a week. At the research report meeting, all the members of the laboratory will seriously discuss detailed experimental operations, experimental procedures, molecular design, and physical properties/functions in order to improve the research. Through these, research execution ability and presentation ability will be trained.
 
A literature review is introduced once every six months. We will read some literature according to the theme given to the teacher and present it in a review format. By thinking about what is the problem in the field, what kind of approach is being taken to the problem, and the advantages and disadvantages of comparing that approach with other research, and making a presentation You will be able to use it for the development of our research and acquire the ability to think for yourself what "interesting research" is.
 

Attending conferences

Students who have obtained a set result will present the results at the annual conference and debate of the Society of Polymer Science, Japan. We also actively participate in international conferences, so that we can acquire the ability to make presentations and discuss in English.
 

Proceeding to Ph.D. course

Our laboratory is looking for motivated students who are considering going on to a doctoral course. It is thought that the future society will become more and more internationalized, but in such a situation, if you do not have a doctorate in a company or a research institute, you will not be generally regarded as a researcher. We strongly recommend that you obtain a Ph.D. so that you can make the most of your excellent abilities in the international community. We encourage doctoral students to apply for a special researcher at the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, and if they do their best to achieve good results and are hired, they will be able to devote themselves to their research without any financial problems.
